How To: Make An Art Wall

An Art Wall can instantly change the atmosphere of a space. It adds character, tells a story and draws attention. Your aRT Wall can consist of art prints, photos and/or your favourite quotes. Here are a few tips to take your Art Wall to the next level.

1. Choose your wall and vibe

Do you want your Art Wall to hang above your bed or in the hallway? Decide where you want to place your mini-museum. Once you have chosen a wall, you can consider what vibe this wall should have. If you are going for a tropical vibe, you can, for example, give the chosen wall a highlight colour so that it stands out from all the other walls.

2. Collect your images

Collect all the images! (Extra points if you heard that sentence in Def Rhymz's voice) Think of postcards, art prints, (polaroid) photos, quotes. You can even add small objects to an Art Wall. See it as a way to represent your experiences and/or internal world.

3. Determine the composition

What really helps is to first lay out all the images you have collected (so far) on the floor. This way you can see what works for you and what doesn't. Do you want more white space or less? Do you want to frame everything or do you prefer to use clips, adhesive strips or washi tape? On the floor you can calmly determine which layout works for you without having to mess around with your wall. [stick art to wall]

4. Precision

If you choose to use frames: do yourself a favor and use a spirit level or ruler and measure everything before you permanently adjust your wall.

5. Let The Art Wall Grow

Give your Art Wall time to grow and consciously save beautiful images that touch you, tell you something or carry a memory.

Now you have your own gallery at home, enjoy!
